Day 390 – Epic climb into Chisos Basin
Today I got up at 4 am to start for the 23 mile/1300′ elev. gain ride to Panther Junction and then another 6 mile/2000′ and segment into Chisos Basin and the campground.
To put it mildly – it was a challenge.
Camp host Ted gave me a round of applause as I passed him on the way to my site. Many people I ran into noticed that I was very slowly making my way up the mountain. Ha ha.
All worth it!

You are awesome, young man. I wish I knew how many other people have done the cross country on a fully loaded bike!

Aw thanks. There are others that have done it, but I don’t think many. I met a woman here in Marfa, TX and she told me a theater director friend of hers and a troop of 6 others are bicycling from West to East putting on a play. They are transporting all their props and equipment by bicycle. When I find out who they are I’ll post it.

Oops! It’s too early in the morning. I misspelled my own name!

Loved the video. Beautiful place. Miss hanging out with you. Not sure my body would handle biking like that.

Hi Thai. Glad you liked the video. I’m coming to Seattle at the end of July. Talk to you before that.
